1964 Chevrolet Greenbrier Corvair Passenger van. This outstanding all original Corvair van has only traveled 36,600 careful miles in its last 50 years of long time ownership among three long time collectors. Sold new in by Weaver Chevrolet Co. of New Philadelphia Ohio to Ms. Hazel i. Gibson. It is documented that Ms.Gibson owned this unique and ultra rare Greenbrier until 1976 and had only traveled 21,000 miles in Hazels ownership. By its outstanding condition inside and out,it was clearly a fair weather only vehicle and again by condition she obviously was not hauling a bus full of kids or hogs to market. The interior as clean and original as the exterior, one might wonder if anyone ever sat in the rear seats. This unique van is equipped with 3 rows of bench seating ( including drivers row) hence the ability to be a nine passenger carry-all. Finished in the best possible interior color of Teal, between condition and cleanliness this bright Teal interior almost looks electric. Vinyl seats door panels and original heavy corrugated rubber floor mats also finished in Teal and all showing exceptional free of any wear, rips, tears or soil. Exterior is original Factory finished in Onyx Black with White sweeps, outstanding finish throughout with excellent depth and shine. Dressed with Chevrolet ‘spinner’ 14″ wire wheel discs. By documentation the van left the great care of Ms Gibson in 1976 and the new curator of the special Corvair Greenbrier became the pride of well known Corvair guru and passionate collector Don Schneider. Included in the original Chevrolet dealer pouch along with original owners manual and original Protecto – Plan is a hand written note by Don Schneider. This note documents the mileage and extensive care and service done by Mr Schneider during what appears to be his 21 years of ownership. The third family to adopt this gem was another Corvair only collector who in his care and control did use the Greenbrier and took the mileage to 36,000 again careful fair weather use and serviced and maintained as required. Today this true “time capsule” is in truly amazing original condition throughout. The undercarriage shows equal with no signs what so ever of any corrosion issues. This Corvair Greenbrier performs extremely well, pulls strong handles the road well and stops square. I personally had this van on a 100 plus mile tour and it runs and drives extremely well.
This 1964 Corvair Greenbrier 9 Passenger 6 Door van is equipped with the optional 2 carb 110 horsepower and the optional 4 speed manual transmission. Esthetically a true to the word ‘survivor’, with a unique look that always draws crowds and mechanically an actual surprise to drive.
A must own for those who appreciate originality rarity and uniqueness. Likely the lowest mileage all original example in existence.
