1959 FORD GALAXIE SKYLINER RETRACTABLE
This is an exceptionally restored example of the 59’ ford retractable.
Previous to the ‘frame on’ restoration in 2006 it was an outstanding dry corrosion free southern car. This ford still retains all of the factory original body panels as ,they where all in exceptional orig condition.
As stated the car was not taken off the frame as it was not required, another great indicator of how solid of an example it is. Refinished in its factory correct colours , surf blue over wedgewood blue, likely one of the most favorable color combos available in 1959. The finish is exceptional, virtually flawless with great coverage and smooth as glass. All chrome and stainless is combination of replated original and triple plated to show quality, all stainless was buffed and polished all brite work shows exceptional. The interior is near flawless with a 100% correct replaced
‘abc” interior , the authorities in replacement ford interiors. Upon replacement the owner placed clear seat covers to protect the upholstery.
All interior chrome and stainless trim is intact and shows well. Equipped with factory original 352 cid overhead valve v8 , this being the ‘interceptor’ ‘ thunderbird special’ engine. The engine was taken apart and inspected during 2006 restoration. The engine detail is not only 100% correct and authentic it is also impeccable, truly. The car starts runs and drives excellent, never runs hot , and arrow straight down the road under power load as well as hard braking. A true treat to drive.
The retractable mechanics have been completely serviced , overhauled rebuilt and a-lined, ready for the crowds to watch the awesome show of these magical retractable perform there mechanical wonders and stow away the steel hard top into the trunk. This is truly a well done and beautiful example of one the best years (the last) of the ford retractables.
