Old Is New Again Inc. is proud to offer yet another fabulous example of a Canadian Only Model – Mercury M-100 1/2 Ton Pick Up Truck. The Mercury Model Truck was Built in Canada for Canadian consumers only, these Trucks never made it to any US Ford Mercury dealerships.
This example started its life in Saskatchewan. Sold new to Ross Boutin of Alida Sask. Boutin ran a Massey- Harris Tractor dealership and this was his personal vehicle. Apparently purchased new and lettered with his dealership name and details back in 1953. This example seen an extensive no-holds-barred nut and bolt total frame off restoration here in Ontario by a known Merc Truck aficionado. This example was completed about 10 years ago and has seen a few thousand carefully miles since. Refinished in a correct Mercury truck colour for 1953 , Meadow Green with Black Fenders and running boards. This all steel example is found to be in exceptional condition, top to bottom. No signs of any patch or repair, no apparent corrosion issues.
Previous to the restoration the owner had Ontario’s finest Sign Painter take photos and stencils of the original door lettering and seen it fitting to replace the door lettering upon completion…How Canadian ! Eh
Although in better then New Condition, the truck is stock and appearance, and still retains the original Flat Head Ford V8 Block , the motor is anything but stock. The original block was rebuilt and tastefully updated and modified by renowned Flat Head Ford Experts Jitney from Western Canada. Equipped with a number of Period style “Speed Equipment’ including polished aluminum 3 carb intake, finely set up with 3 ’97′ Carbs , Edelbrock finned aluminum heads,, chromed headers, dual exhaust – all internal components are high quality performance parts. Also includes a Chrome 12 Volt Alternator and Electronic ignition. Full list of motor work and Bills of the build come with the sale. Not only does this motor start easy , sound great with excellent performance it also looks Bitchen !! This Unique and rare Mercury is also even more uncommon with first year 1953 for the Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission put into a Ford / Mercury Truck. This Truck was also fitted with front Disc brakes and is complete with power booster making this truck even that much more pleasurable to drive. With a stunning Oak plank and stainless slat show bed featured. Interior was also fully restored and is complete with an original Radio and Speaker along with an original heater. Excellent dash and gauges cluster. A deluxe cab complete with a full headliner and trim throughout.
This Mercury Truck turns heads and is an absolute pleasure to cruise in. A well set up 3 carb set up and smooth shifting Merc-O Matic Automatic Trans.
With a total frame off restoration this undercarriage shows as clean and nice as the top side. A true show stopper and A Must Have in any respectable Collection.
